Fully Sustainable Solution

Novomer’s PEC, acrylic acid, or polypropiolactone (PPL) can be synthesized cost competitively from bio-based feedstocks using existing technology. For example, in Brazil, the fermentation and gasification of sugarcane can be used to generate ethylene oxide, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. These raw materials can then be combined with Novomer’s catalyst to make materials and chemicals with a negative carbon footprint! Therefore, Novomer technology could lead to diapers, packaging, and paints which sequester carbon dioxide over the product lifecycle.
