Federal & State Grants

Novomer has been awarded the following federal and state grants to support the commercialization of our CO2-based polymers:

Department of Energy
$2.5M Phase One focused on experiments and preliminary designs for pilot plants to demonstrate the feasibility of capturing and using CO2 exhausted from industrial processes.

Phase Two is a 24-month, $23M project, including a 20 percent industry cost share, in which Novomer and its partners will design, construct, and operate materials creation at pilot-scale, in advance of broad commercialization.

New York State Energy Research & Development (NYSERDA)
$475,000 for two phases of work, included a feasibility study and commercialization activities for the coatings and packaging markets.

National Science Foundation
$400,000 to develop a continuous flow manufacturing process to make CO2-based polymers.

“This investment by NYSERDA will help further Governor David Paterson’s goals of reducing energy consumption, promoting the use of renewable energy sources, protecting the environment, and bolstering New York’s economy.” said Francis J. Murray, Jr., NYSERDA President and CEO. “In the first phase of the project, Novomer’s ‘home grown’ innovations from the remarkable work at Cornell performed exceptionally well. We are very excited for this next phase and for the large scale potential it represents for New York and the world.”
