Adhesives from CO2-based polyols
Polyurethane adhesives are used in a diverse range of industries, including building and construction, packaging, transportation, marine, electronics, textiles, and footwear. These adhesives can be classified along several dimensions, including reactive vs. non-reactive, one vs. two component, and 100% solids vs. aqueous/solvent-based systems. Novomer is exploring a range of adhesive technologies based on its sustainable polyols, with a primary focus on reactive adhesives in both one component moisture-cured and two component systems. Existing petroleum-based polycarbonate polyols are used in high end adhesive applications but are significantly more costly than traditional “standard grade” polyols. Novomer CO2-based polycarbonate polyols have the potential to bring this same high performance but at a cost competitive with traditional polyether and poyester polyols.
